Integrated B2B Custom Metal Design & Contract Manufacturing

At SafeFaber, our dedicated design and engineering service bridges the gap between creative industrial concept and high-yield manufacturing reality. We understand that precision sheet metal fabrication begins long before laser beams touch raw steel. By embedding advanced engineering analysis directly into your design phase, we help ensure that every bend, cut, weld, and fastener placement is optimized for repeatability and cost efficiency.

Whether you provide early-stage industrial sketches, standard 2D blueprints, or complex 3D assemblies, our seasoned sheet metal engineers conduct in-depth design audits. We specialize in custom metal design for complex telecommunications enclosures, battery storage racks, power distribution cabinets, and heavy-duty structural frames, refining CAD models to minimize scrap rates, reduce machine cycle times, and eliminate secondary operations.

From rapid functional prototyping to full production tooling release, SafeFaber acts as your agile engineering extension in China. Our seamless CAD-to-CNC pipeline helps minimize loss in dimensional fidelity, delivering robust sheet metal solutions aligned with ISO 2768-mK tolerances and international manufacturing standards.

Tolerance Capability

GD&T Symbols, Datums and Tolerances We Work To

Our engineers read the gd and t symbols on your drawing before we quote, so every datum scheme is agreed before the first sheet is cut. We run a tolerance stack up on multi-part assemblies and flag features, such as perpendicularity of a flange to a mounting face, that need a tighter process. Read our GD&T and inspection tolerances and our sheet metal design and tolerance guidelines for more detail.

SymbolWhat it controlsHow we verify it
FlatnessHow far a panel or mounting face may deviate from a perfect plane, within a zone of two parallel planes.Granite surface plate with height gauge, or CMM point scan across the face.
StraightnessHow straight an edge, flange line or axis must be along its length.CMM line scan, or straightedge with feeler gauge on long edges.
PerpendicularityThe 90° relationship of a flange, bend or hole axis to a datum plane.CMM measurement against datums A and B, or a right-angle gauge for production checks.
ConcentricityHow closely the centre points of a round feature sit on the datum axis.CMM derived median points, checked against the datum axis.
RunoutCombined form and axis wobble of a round feature when rotated about a datum axis.Dial indicator on V-blocks or a rotary fixture, or CMM scan.
True positionWhere holes, slots, studs and cut-outs may sit relative to the datums, in a diameter tolerance zone.CMM or optical measurement, plus functional pin gauges on a fixture.
Profile toleranceThe allowed 3D form or contour of a surface or line against the CAD model.CMM scanning or optical comparison against the CAD surface.

Interference, Slip and Press Fit Tolerances

We choose the fit class from what the joint must do. Press fits for pins and PEM hardware get interference, hinges and sliding panels get slip fits with clearance, and locating features sit in between. We confirm the choice with a tolerance stack up across the mating parts, allowing for bend deduction, coating thickness and material grade.

Inspection and Gauge Capability

Parts are measured on a calibrated CMM, backed by pin, thread and go/no-go gauges for repeat batches. A first article report lists the ballooned drawing, measured against nominal values for every dimension, GD&T results, material and coating certificates, and the inspection tool IDs with calibration dates, so you can approve production with evidence.
